Hi! This is Eric, co-founder of Terracea.
I originally hail from places of year-long sun and warm weather, having spent most of my life in the tropical environments of Hong Kong and Hawaii. My first migration was to California for undergrad at Pepperdine University where I needed to put on a light jacket for the first time ever to fend off those frigid Malibu winters. Naturally, this made me decide to move further east where I could experience firsthand waking up to the sound of snow-plows and opening my front door to 2+ feet of snow in the morning.
I completed my MBA studies at Northeastern University in Boston and had a great time exploring the city. I also met Brian there, where we co-led efforts on planning group trips for our friends who were beginner/intermediate snowboarders and also a few that were just seeing snow for the first time.
Snowboarding has been a main hobby of mine since the first time I went with some friends to a small hill in Los Angeles 10 years ago--I still remember you, Snow Valley! Despite the occasional minor injury and the not-so-occasional bruised ego, it remains my favorite winter pastime. I love the feeling of just being outside with friends and enjoying my time out on the mountain, even if the conditions aren’t ideal. The early morning drives and first chairs up still put a smile on my face. Snowboarding also reminds me to always stay humble, keep an open mind about learning new things, and constantly strive for improvement.
When I'm not neck deep in Terracea work, I'm trying to better myself physically and mentally through fitness/strength training. Starting up Terracea has been a great experience and I look forward to learning more and growing alongside this brand.
Hello! I'm Brian, co-founder of Terracea. This company has been in the works for a long time - if you haven't checked out OUR STORY yet, I definitely recommend it. But onto the bio part!
For as long as I can remember, I've dreamed about putting my creativity to use in a way that could have a positive impact on people. Prior to starting Terracea, the hardest part was figuring out what to do, and I think my school and work experience reflect that.
I graduated from Northeastern University in 2008 with a degree in Music Industry. During that time I interned at a record studio in Hollywood, CA, which was not nearly as glamorous as it sounds. In 2010 I returned to get my MBA in Marketing, and afterwards I worked at a medical devices company for a few years prior to starting up Terracea with Eric. My first job was on an assembly line and since then I've held the titles of Daycare Counselor/Teacher (the kids called me 'Mr. Brian'), Barista (twice), Retail Sales Specialist, Fine Jewelry Manager, and various forms of Marketing Specialist.
I grew up all around the East Coast and braved 30+ years of snowy and icy winters. But it's all good because I love the snow! In fact, snowboarding is my favorite thing in the world. I've been riding for 20 years. I skied for a few years before that but wanted to try something new. Although I sucked fantastically at first, snowboarding felt amazing so I stuck with it. During non-winter, I spend my weekends trekking through the mountains or exploring the city. If I'm outside, I'm happy!
Aside from all that outdoorsy stuff, I'm also a musician and huge music lover (hence the Music Industry degree). I've been playing bass and guitar since I was 16. Anytime I need to take a break from building Terracea, I'm either playing music or rocking out to it. Neighbors love me.
Lastly, I have a soft spot for animals and keeping the planet healthy. I've been vegetarian for a handful of years and I recycle everything I can. I try not to be preachy about either one, but they are ideals we have carried into the design of our apparel. You can read more about it here.
